Lyrics Love Me Tender Elvis Presley
Love Me Tender
Love me tender,
love me sweet,
never let me go.
You have made my life complete,
and I love you so.
Love me tender,
love me true,
all my dreams fulfilled.
For my darlin’ I love you,
and I always will.
Love me tender,
love me long,
take me to your heart.
For it’s there that I belong,
and we’ll never part.
Love me tender,
love me dear,
tell me you are mine.
I’ll be yours through all the years,
till the end of time.
(When at last my dreams come true
Darling this I know
Happiness will follow you
Everywhere you go).

“Love Me Tender” is a 1956 song recorded by Elvis Presley and published by Elvis Presley Music from the eponymous 20th Century Fox film. The words and music are credited to Ken Darby under the pseudonym “Vera Matson”, the name of his wife, and Elvis Presley. The RCA Victor recording by Elvis Presley was no. 1 on both the Billboard and Cashbox charts in 1956. The song was adapted from the tune of “Aura Lee”, a sentimentalCivil War ballad.
The 1956 song “Love Me Tender” puts new words to a new musical adaptation of the Civil War song “Aura Lee,” published in 1861. “Aura Lee” had music by George R. Poulton and words by W. W. Fosdick. It later became popular with college glee clubs and barbershop quartets. It was also sung at the U.S. Military Academy at West Point, New York.
